              FACILITIES
  • The college has Dr. Niyogl Hall (Assembly-cum-Recreation Hall) now named as Justice Bhawanishankar Niyogi Auditorium at Shankar Nagar Campus, where all the students of the different faculties can assemble for General Educational and Cultural programmes. The College has a state of the art Gymnasium with the facility of Jogger Cycle, Rowing machine and Workout Stations. It also has cemented Basket Ball Court.
    The College is cosmopolitan in outlook and is service oriented in spirit. Eminent visitors have complemented the college remarking that It merits to be an independent University for women.
  • Students Common Room : A Platinum Jubilee Initiative named as "virangula" at Shankar Nagar Campus behind academic block.
     
  • Library : (S.P. Gharpure Information Centre) There are two fully equipped computerized libraries with Internet facilities besides departmental Libraries. The Main Library is located at Shankar Nagar College Campus. The other is at Seminary Hills College Campus. Both the libraries are managed by a qualified Librarian, Asstt. Librarian and other staff.
    The Library has been accorded membership to INFLIBNET by the UGC to access a number of e-joumals and books.
     
  • Photocopying Facility : Xerox facility is available for students and teachers on payment basis:
    'Pratikruti Xerographic Copying Centre' at Shankar Nagar and Seminary Hills College Libraries.
    'Pragati Xerox' at Seminary Hills College - In Applied Electronics & Software Technology Dept.
     
  • Sports and Recreation : The extensive ground space on the campus provides ample scope for athletics and outdoor     
    games. Provision is made for the following indoor and outdoor games : Table Tennis, Carrom, Badminton, Tenniquoit, Volleyball, Throwball, Hockey, Kho-Kho and Basketball. Students seeking admission under sports quota must take part in sports activities. The college also enjoys the honour of   
    having many State and National players in different games. The compulsory physical education programme planned by the University is carried out by qualified Physical Education teachers, its main objectives are to develop general level of physical fitness and healthy competitive spirit.
    The College participates in University and Inter-University sports and has been represented regularly in National and state Tournaments winning many laurels. The Physical Education Department has a facility of a Basketball Tar Court now converted into cement court fitted with flood lights provided by Western Coalfields Ltd. to facilitate playing in the evening.
     
  • L.A.D's Saraswati Kanya Sangh : This basketball club exclusively for girls was established in 1988-89. Since then students not only of LAD. College but of the vicinity are trained by the club through a well trained coach. Summer coaching camps are also held every year and members of the club  participate in every local, district, state and national level competitions. L.A.D's basketball team has retained the University championship for more than two decades. Students desirous of joining the club may contact Head of the Physical Education Department.
     
  • N.S.S. (National Service Scheme) : The College has been selected by the University for this Central Government Scheme since 1969-70 and many students participate in this activity. College has two N.S.S. units, one at Shankar Nagar Campus and the other at the Seminary Hills Campus. Certificates are issued to students participating in N.S.S. activities.
     
  •  Adventure Club : It was started in the college during 1995-96 session with a view to build up personality, character and to promote team spirit amongst youth by undertaking adventure camps and other activities.
     
  • N.C.C. : The National Cadet Corps, one of the oldest units, established in 1949 provides training and opportunities for N.C.C. Training. N.C.C. gives girl students basic knowledge about the defence of the country. Camps and courses in N.C.C. facilitates an all-round development for keen and sincere participants.     Note : RTM Nagpur University gives 10 credit marks as an Incentive to the students participating in National Service Scheme (N.S.S.), Adult & Continuing Education and Extension Scheme (ACEES), National Cadet Corps (N.C.C.) games, sports and cultural activities from the session 1996-97 as per ordinance No 2 of 1996.
     
  • SPIC MACAY : Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth-Sub Chapter was started in the college with a view to promote our traditional cultural heritage by arranging lecture / demonstration, programmes of artists of national and International repute.
     
  • Human Rights Education Cell (WCCI) : College has started Human Rights Cell in 1996 with an objective to make students and others aware about Human Rights and responsibilities. Students and teachers can become members. Lectures, seminars etc. are being arranged in and outside the college, regularly.
     
  • Samadhan, Guidance & Counseling Centre : Department of Psychology & Human Development Department run a guidance and counseling center to help the college students as well as parents.
    1) Vocational Guidance
    2) Aptitude & Intelligence testing.
    3) Mental & Emotional hygiene.
    4) Adjustment Problems.
    5) Personality Development Programmes.
    6) Pre-marital Counseling are being provided.
     
  • Women's Studies Centre (UGC-SPONSORED) : The college runs a Women's Studies Research and Documentation Centre which runs courses, holds programmes and workshops to create in the student community an awareness of gender rights and gender justice. In 2009 the Centre was awarded UGC recognition under the     
    XI Plan and is among a handful of Centres located in colleges in the country that has received recognition by the UGC. The Centre runs a Certificate Course on Women's Studies which aims to create an exciting interdisciplinary classroom. Each student after attending the lectures works on an area of her choice under one of the faculty and submits a research project on which they are graded. Students of Women's studies can also enroll for a scrap book project under Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur through which they are awarded incentive marks for their work and these marks are included in their final mark lists by the University. Films, panel discussions on current topics, seminars, and book discussions are popular events organized by the Centre.For further details students can contact the Convener Dr. Rashmi Tikku (Associate Professor, Dept. of English).
     
  • Canteen : Snacks and other items at concessional rates are served during the college hours, at Shankar Nagar and Seminary Hills College Canteens.
     
  • Hostel Facility for Seminary Hills Campus : Women's Education Society runs a hostel which is situated at the vast and beautiful campus of about 26 acres of land at the Seminary Hills. It provides accommodation to about 200 students with all basic facilities like good and airy rooms with toilets and bathrooms attached to the wings.
    Mess of the hostel is run by the Hotel Management & Catering Technology Department staff & students. They provide vegetarian meals, snacks and tea
    Post Office and Banks are located in the radius of about 1 km. of the campus. Though the Seminary Hills is about 8 km. away from the main Railway Station, it is very well connected by city transport services.
     
  • Hostel Facility for Shankar NAgar Campus : The UGC Sponsored Hostel at Shankar Nagar Campus can accommodate 51 Students. Senior College Students studying at Shankar Nagar Campus can avail the hostel facility.
     
  • A WELLNESS CENTRE : The Centre was started by the Department of Physical Education and Sports last year. Medical check up is free for the students.
     
  • Alumnae Association : The college has an alumnae association. The objectives of the association are:
    1.    To bring all alumnae together.
    2.    To organize various activities like seminars, workshops, lectures for the development of the personality of the alumnae as well as students of the college.
    3.    To contribute to the progress and development of the Alma Mater.
    4.    To provide career guidance to the present students in India as well as abroad.
    5.    Various extension activities are conducted for community development.

  • Transport : State Transport buses are available at convenient times for students to go to the Seminary Hills Campus and back.
     
  • Grievances Redressal Committee : Works towards redressal of students grievances, if any. Students may contact Vice Principal/Registrar. Suggestion boxes placed at both campuses may also be used.
     
  • L.A.D.'s SESHA : (Self Employed students & Housewives Association).:
    SESHA was started as an "Earn while you Leam scheme" way back in 1970 (nineteen seventy) with an objective to provide self employment to the Home Science students.
    Under the aegis of SESHA various activities are held to encourage students to make and sell the products. Activities like preparation of food preservation products, handicraft & textile items, are undertaken to provide self employment to the students. They undertake canteen projects, detergent and soap, cleansing powder making etc.
    Extension activities like demonstration and lectures are conducted regularly for women of rural areas.This way the students of Home Science are expected to learn the basics of entrepreneurship. SESHA also runs workshops for housewives in textile printing, food preservation, stitching etc.
     
  • Parent Teacher Association : The College runs a parent teacher-association at Junior as well as at Senior college level. This promotes understanding between parents and teachers which ultimately benefits the students.
     
  • SEWA - Community Welfare Projects Cell : This Cell of the college, was formed with the intention of sensitizing students to the problems in the community. To this end the cell has been extending a helping hand to the aged, the orphaned, the physically and mentally challenged, the ill, and our own needy students. Notebooks used by students are also sold by the cell at the time of admission as fund raising activity.
     
  • Adoption of a Village : As a part of the community outreach and service learning activity, the college had adopted a village Thaturwada in Narkhed District. Now it has adpoted another village namely, Hirankhuri. The aim of the adoption is village up-liftment and to expose students to rural environment with hands-on participation in its development. The project has completed two successful years with training programmes in health awareness, basic hygiene, entrepreneurship, self-help and other activities. Other programmes are on the anvil. The impact on the villages has been appreciable.
     
  • DIET COUNSELING CENTRE : The Department of Food & Nutrition and Home-Economics runs a 'DIET COUNSELING CENTRE' for staff and students of the college. Guidance is rendered regarding daily diet pattern, foods to be avoided, food to be allowed, low calories food, diet for Athletes etc. in normal as well as in diseased condition.   • The HMCT department conducts skill development programme "Hunar se Rajgar". Any student who has completed 10th standard and has completed 18 years of age can apply for this program. Three programs are conducted under this banner : (a) Food Production - 8 weeks (b) Food & Beverage - 6 weeks (c) Hotel Housekeeping 6 weeks.
     
  • Training and Placement :MoU with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
    A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with TCS wherein TCS Designed Certificate Courses are offered to the students and adequate training is imparted to them by TCS trained faculty to enable them to be employable after graduation. These courses would run parallel to the Regular curriculum during college hours.
    Training activities under the Training & Placement cell of the college will be a continuous process from First Year through Final Year which would involve Personal Grooming, Awareness of Corporate Houses & corporate Culture, Career Guidance, Communicative English, Mentoring Opportunities for Higher Education, Entrepreneurship Development skills, Group Discussion & Interview Techniques.
    Placement Services are offered in the college wherein leading architects of the city like Ar. Mokha & Associates, Ar.Kishor Chhiddarwar and others have provided employment to the students of Interior Design. Campus interviews for students of Cosmetic Technology have been conducted by VOV Internationals, Mumbai, Arihant Chemicals, Mumbai and Mankind, Delhi. Students of Hotel Management & CateringTechnology are placed in top 5 Star hotels of the country. Global giants—TCS, Wipro and IBM have held campus interviews in the institution and students have been selected for their BPS Services as well as IT Sectors.
